Shimla

Finally back to the web world after a relatively long break... College reopening kept us a bit busy along with an unplanned trip to Shimla. It started as a joke about the snow and the chill out there and ended up with us sitting in a bus early morning on our way to Shimla. And guess what, luckily for us it started snowing almost as soon as we reached there. Pretty cool for us as the snow was fresh and reasonably deep. Around ten guys from college roamig around on the scenic ridge singing "Purani Jeans", "Summer of 69" and lots of other bryan adams numbers and I know I'll be remembering these days.

We had a nice place to stay as the VIP room in ARTRAC (the Indian armies 5th command) mess was opened up for us.

Some figures and facts about Shimla :
Shimla the summer capital of India before independence is now the capital of Himachal Pradesh. Shimla derives its name from "Shyamala";- the goddess Kali, whose temple existed in the dense forest that covered Jakhu Hill in the early 19th century. The English named it Simla. Shimla is well connected by air, road and rail with all parts of Himachal Pradesh, and the neighbouring states of Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashimir and the Union territory of Chandigarh. Covering the area of 18 sq. km. at a height of 7,238 ft. It one of Indian's most popular and biggest hill-stations.
