I'm getting a sis (in-law)!!! Yipppeeee

After my last sem was up I decided to join my big bro Vineeth in Hyderabad. Really wanted to spend some time with him. Soon after I set foot in the city which holds the temple of computer geeks in India I had a pleasant surprise. On the way to my brothers place he goes something like "So, we're going out to dinner with Manisha where do you want it to be?" Well I had this idea that someone called Manisha existed but nothing more. The grin on my face was like I was trying out for a Colgate add. I get to meet a girl my bro knows... (I always thought my bro was an alien coz he'd never tell me about his girl friends or anything, so you can imagine the excitement)

So we decide to hit sub-way for a couple of foot longs. 5 minutes in sub way and this petite cute girl walks who in this real soft voice goes "Hi Vineeth" and then I'm introduced. Yet a bigger smile on my face. Got to know Manisha better over the next week or so that I was at Hyderabad.

What was really exciting for me was that I've always wanted to know what sort of a girl my bro likes. Since the day I found the book on "How to make girlfriends" in his cupboard I always wanted to know what sort of a girl does Vineeth like ??? Well anna (elder bro) always said that the book belonged to one of his friends. I don't know about that, I still feel it was his. But one thing is for sure if reading that book gets you such cute and nice girlfriends then I'm rushing to Browsers today to see if I can get my hands on a copy of it.

As of today they're getting married in July. My mom must really be happy after all these years of being the only woman in our family. I can imagine her happiness.
I'm pretty happy too. I get a sis. Its a new feeling for all of us since we have three men and one woman in the family.

.
And we all look forward to seeing Manisha chechi in the family.

A very special post in a very long time for a very long time for a special person.

Five point someone... that great ???

Managed to flick a copy of Five point someone from a senior pal. A lot of rave reviews were coming to me about this book and about how cool it was. Well Chetan Bhagats book is high on funk factor and is an interesting read for a college student. But the book, I personally feel is like a David Dhawan movie only a lil more intelligent. its fun, the humour is good but at times you feel you should have left your brains back somewhere before you start reading certain parts of this book.

Five point someone follows the life of three under average students at IIT from diverse backgrounds who end up one fine day in the hallowed halls of IIT and how they spend their time at college. Actually the book cover reads "How not to live in an IIT."

At 95 bucks well... the book is a one time read and it does have some interesting stuff but Chetan Bhaga... Well,,, he's from IIT. IIT is like YALE, HARWARD, PRINCETON and OXFORD under one roof for an average Indian. Its where you go if you are the brainiest of the superbrainy. Well maybe coz of that I expected more from this book but am a bit disappointed.

But there are some secrets in this book that you should definetly look out for and which makes it worth a read. Read it but only once.

Talk about controversy

Well, people have a knack for a lot of things. Some people are good at skating, biking, speaking, and a lot of other stuff. But my friend Achintya has the knack for controversy. Everything he says and does has a controversial kick to it. If u know what I mean. (For the uninitiated he's this senior at coll,) And his posts on his blog are pretty cool but are just about to hit the college gossip headlines coz of some very frank comments about a senior. Well his blog is probably gonna make it big... (grin) Coz this senior he wrote about just read it. Now works two ways... either achin.tk sees a surge in hits from the college crowd or otherwise... Achintya Sushi is all I can say. Either way best of luck buddy.

Sushi is what i bet my money on. Not too bad, a new food to try out.

And ppl do check out www.achin.tk .

PS: He also has this reference to all of us, the AOE gamers.

Bottles of memories

As part of the distinguished lecture series of our college we had Mr. Soli Jehangir Sorabjee visit us to talk about PILs a boon or a bane. Mr. Sorabjee at 75 I must admit is one of the best speakers I have seen who comes in my list along with Mr Venugopalan (Sr. Supreme Court advocate and Constitutional Lawyer) and Bruce Oswald professor in the Melbourne school. The accent, the charm, the wit and the magic of an unprepared speech all together are so wonderful that Mr. Sorabjee seems 10 yrs younger and are probably mesmerising over the court.

In the mean time of his lecture I decided to start a new collection. I managed to flick the bottle on stage which was used by him and now the bottle adorns my room marked Soli J sorabjee 23. April 2005. For the uninitiated Mr. Sorabjee is lawyer par excellence who was during the reign of the previous government the Attorney General of India, also he represented India in the International Court of Justice at Hague in the case of the Pakistani transport plane short down some where over the Indo Pak border.

Needless to say he was successful in the case. Truly a person to look upto and admire. But one thing I have realized "As a lawyer my friend you never retire." K Venugopal and Sorabjee are evidence that you don't stop. And the best part is its not a compulsion to work but a challenge to work which drives you on as age passes by. You can criticize lawyers all you like. A lot of them do deserve to be criticized but certain people are a lesson for all of us who teach us lawyers that your morals are important not the money.

Am down with a slight feverishness and am feeling exhausted. Add to that the climate of Chandigarh and it is worse. But hope to get back to normal.

Adios for now amigos.

Ps: Hey wisecracks, who mailed me I can take you up on that bet of Fundamental Rights. Wanna bet for a 100. grin
